During the month of August, the average price of second-hand housing for sale in Spain rose by 14.8% year-on-year, reaching 2,498 euros/m2, its highest price since idealista began to keep records. Seven provinces also reached record prices, as the most expensive in the country; the Balearic Islands (5,068 euros/m2), Madrid (4,384 euros/m2), Guipúzcoa (4,007 euros/m2) and Malaga (3,842 euros/m2), together with Barcelona (3,023 euros/m2), Alicante (2,595 euros/m2) and Girona (2,587 euros/m2). We analyse the prices of second-hand housing on the market and their annual evolution in those municipalities of these seven provinces where maximum values never recorded in the idealista statistics have also been reached.
32 towns in Alicante record maximum prices for property for sale
The province of Alicante is the one that has recorded the highest number of towns that have prices at maximums, with 32 municipalities, among which the provincial capital is not included, thus reflecting the residential pull of these tourist areas of the Mediterranean. While the provincial average reaches €2,595/m2, after a rise of 14.8%, the highest prices among the towns in record can be found in Jávea (€3,958/m2), followed by Calpe (€3,438/m2), Altea (€3,415/m2), Benitachell (€3,335/m2), Benidorm (€3,246/m2) or Denia (€3,217/m2). Among the largest increases in the province, one of the most affordable municipalities stands out, such as Salinas, where its prices have risen by 38.7% to leave 950 euros/m2. Dolores (33.7%) and Catral (33.1%), there are also notable increases, ahead of other prominent towns such as Jávea (19.8%), Santa Pola (16.5%), Benidorm (15%), Torrevieja (14.3%) or Denia (14%).
